This was a Mercedes-Benz engine (M120), which was also used by Stern in the S600 (W140) and the S600 Coupe (C140). With this engine, the Commendatore 112i reached a top speed of 342 km/h and accelerated - with a weight of only 1,480 kilograms - from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
