Mazda

Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. Ltd. was founded in Hiroshima on 30 January 1920 and produced cork substitutes from native plants. In 1930, the company began developing a motorised three-wheeled cargo vehicle. The name Mazda first appeared in 1931: series production of the first motor vehicle began under the name Mazda-GO. The name comes from Ahura Mazda, the ancient Persian god of light. The first prototype of a Mazda passenger car was built in 1940: Mazda passenger car prototype #1. Today, Mazda is one of the world's best-known car manufacturers.
