Built between 1948 and 1953, the Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport, with its powerful 6-cylinder engine, was the last of Talbot's great coachbuilt cars. Just 32 Grand Sports were constructed on Talbot's short chassis, and each one was unique.

In 1951, this Talbot Lago was delivered as a rolling chassis to the Pennock coachbuilders in The Hague, with the request to convert it into an ultimate rally car. The Pennock coachbuilding company was more than happy for this vehicle to arrive, as sales had dropped drastically after the war.

Pennock was proud to present the 'Pennock-Lago' at the 1952 Amsterdam Motor Show.  Perhaps it was not as elegant as the factory bodies, let alone compared to the extravagant one-offs of Saoutchik or even Graber, but there was a reason for that, as this car was built specifically for this purpose. Not a show car, but a rally likeness, tailor-made for a rich rally enthusiast. In 1953 or 1954, the coachbuilder Pennock from The Hague was dissolved.
