There aren't many coach bodies that come from Belgium. This body by Umberto de Mola is one of them. In 1939/1940 he originally built this body on an Alfa Romeo 6C-1750 with folding headlights. The goal was to build the most modern car of its time. Many say that it succeeded! During World War II, the car was brought to Tunisia, where it was bought by an American soldier and brought to America. Instead of replacing the 6C-1750 chassis with an identical chassis, the de Mola body was built on a 6C-2500 SS chassis in 1948. The car still exists today. It is still unimaginable that this beautiful body comes from 1939. She looks like she was way ahead of her time.

A total of four Alfa Romeo Ghia Supergioiello (which means "Super Jewel") were built. While the other three had the pre-war chassis, this car was ordered and fitted with an advanced post-war chassis from Sirca, the company that represented Ghia in Lombardy. The design was created by Gilberto Colombo (Gilco), a Milanese designer. Gilco has worked for Ferrari and Maserati and was a master of aerodynamics and lightness.

This model car was produced together with the current owner of the 1950 Alfa Romeo-6 C 2500 SS Supergioiello.

This 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS 'Super Sport' Two Seater wears coachwork by Touring. Its chassis number relates to one of the first Super Sport 6C1750s dating from the first year of production, 1929. Just 121 of these third series Super Sports were built (with and without superchargers) according to Alfa Romeo's records; they were numbered 0312851 to 0312971. The early history of 0312901 is unknown. Whatever its early history, the car appeared in South Africa owned by Lex Williamson in 1936.

The Carrozzeria Touring was an Italian coachbuilder. The company was founded in Milan in 1926 by Felice Bianchi Anderloni. Touring made a name for itself with the patented Superleggera (Italian for “super light”) construction. At the end of 1966, Carrozzeria Touring had to close its doors forever.

The 19th Targa Florio, also XIX Targa Florio, was a road race in Sicily and took place on May 6, 1928. 41 teams were registered, 20 of them Bugattis. It is considered to be one of the most exciting races of the 20s, with repeated changes at the top. With Eliška Junková, a woman led the race for the first time in the history of the Targa Florio. In the following laps Junková proved to be a tough opponent of the two Bugatti drivers Divo and Conelli and of Giuseppe Campari's Alfa Romeo. Campari was in the lead after the end of the third lap, only two minutes ahead of Junková. When Campari had a puncture on lap four, the advantage of his weight-free Alfa Romeo became apparent. Although he had to drive eleven kilometers on the rim, he only lost one minute on Junková, who was still in second place. The Alfa Romeo race management had several service stations set up around the track, which were connected by provisionally laid telephone lines. From there, service employees reported intermediate best times for Campari in the fifth lap. By the time he crossed the finish line, he was already being celebrated as a winner. Junková and Divo had started 40 minutes after Campari and it would have been advisable to wait for their arrival at the finish. In addition, the Alfa Romeo employees only recorded the times of their own works drivers and none of the competition. When Albert Divo crossed the finish line, he was 1 minute and 37 seconds faster than Campari. Shortly before that, Caberto Conelli was within two minutes of Campari. The disappointment at Campari and the Alfa Romeo team management was great. Eliška Junková lost her chance to win due to a defective engine cooling system and reached the finish line in fifth place while driving slowly. This model car shows the Campari racing car before the race, without its race number 16.

Back in time, the Italians had a good sense of what the market wanted. Alfa Romeo was well represented in the top leagues of motorsport at the end of the 1920s, but in the middle class, which private drivers could also afford, there was still a model missing. A vehicle that could be moved in a sporty way, but had simpler and therefore cheaper technology. Vittorio Jano had the answer: the 6C 1500. Between 1927 and 1929 an impressive 1064 units were sold. The successor, the 6C 1750 presented in 1929, ran even better; by 1933 a proud 2579 copies were sold. There were also various versions of the 1750, with the bodies anyway (most famous: the “Flying Star” from Touring), but also with the engine itself. The original car is part of the collection of the Historical Museum of Arese and has the chassis number 8.513.080. The car has a Zagato body.
