This Rolls-Royce was the last Rolls-Royce to be produced with an American custom body. This extraordinary Silver Wraith was made by former Brewster craftsmen for long-time RR importer J.S. Inskip (New York). The lush baroque curves are reminiscent of the French designs by Saoutchik and Figoni & Falaschi. Construction records indicate that the chassis was originally planned for a James Young sedan, but that order was canceled and the car was shipped to the US instead. Few Silver Wraiths were as dramatically beautiful as this Rolls Royce.

This 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS 'Super Sport' Two Seater wears coachwork by Touring. Its chassis number relates to one of the first Super Sport 6C1750s dating from the first year of production, 1929. Just 121 of these third series Super Sports were built (with and without superchargers) according to Alfa Romeo's records; they were numbered 0312851 to 0312971. The early history of 0312901 is unknown. Whatever its early history, the car appeared in South Africa owned by Lex Williamson in 1936.

The Carrozzeria Touring was an Italian coachbuilder. The company was founded in Milan in 1926 by Felice Bianchi Anderloni. Touring made a name for itself with the patented Superleggera (Italian for “super light”) construction. At the end of 1966, Carrozzeria Touring had to close its doors forever.

The Lamborghini 350 GTV is a two-door coupé that was created as a one-off in 1963. It is the first sports car of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. The car was initially an unroadworthy exhibit: when it was presented in October 1963, instead of the engine there was only a box of construction debris under the front bonnet.

It was not until 25 years later that it was restored to roadworthy condition and fitted with a huge naturally aspirated V12 engine from Bizzarrini in Livorno.

Built between 1948 and 1953, the Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport, with its powerful 6-cylinder engine, was the last of Talbot's great coachbuilt cars. Just 32 Grand Sports were constructed on Talbot's short chassis, and each one was unique.

In 1951, this Talbot Lago was delivered as a rolling chassis to the Pennock coachbuilders in The Hague, with the request to convert it into an ultimate rally car. The Pennock coachbuilding company was more than happy for this vehicle to arrive, as sales had dropped drastically after the war.

Pennock was proud to present the 'Pennock-Lago' at the 1952 Amsterdam Motor Show.  Perhaps it was not as elegant as the factory bodies, let alone compared to the extravagant one-offs of Saoutchik or even Graber, but there was a reason for that, as this car was built specifically for this purpose. Not a show car, but a rally likeness, tailor-made for a rich rally enthusiast. In 1953 or 1954, the coachbuilder Pennock from The Hague was dissolved.

The original coachwork chosen for this car was that of a well-appointed four-seater tourer with full weather equipment. Delivered to London in rolling chassis form (Registration no. UL 4703, Chassis no. 44923), the Bugatti was then despatched for bodying to coachbuilder Thomas Harrington Ltd, at that time based in Brighton, Sussex. Founded in 1897 and known to have been bodying cars as early as 1905, Harrington had become a major producer of motor coach bodies while keeping up the car-bodying side of its business, concentrating on high-quality European makes, Bugatti included.

Though the exact number of Bugattis that carried Harrington coachwork is not known, it is believed that they completed only two or three coupés and perhaps as many as five cars with touring coachwork, of which this example is one of two known survivors.
