The last Packard: 1958 Packard Hawk

Packard was one of the most sought-after and famous car brands in the USA. In 1954, the company merged with Studebaker to form the Studebaker-Packard Corporation. The Studebaker-based Packard line - soon to be called "Spackard" or more commonly "Packardbaker" - debuted on 31 January 1957. The Packard Hawk was one of four Packard cars produced by the Studebaker-Packard Corporation. In 1958, there was only one model besides the Packard Hawk in three body styles developed from the Packard Clipper of the previous year: the 4-door sedan and 5-door station wagon simply called "Packard", and a 2-door hardtop coupe. 

Only 558 examples of the Packard Hawk were built. The last Packard rolled off the production line on 25 July 1958. The Hawk was certainly the fastest Packard ever built and sold, sharing most components with the Studebaker Golden Hawk. Innovations and elegant styling made Packard something special. However, with almost 280 hp and a supercharged engine, it was a match for the European sports cars.
