This 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS 'Super Sport' Two Seater wears coachwork by Touring. Its chassis number relates to one of the first Super Sport 6C1750s dating from the first year of production, 1929. Just 121 of these third series Super Sports were built (with and without superchargers) according to Alfa Romeo's records; they were numbered 0312851 to 0312971. The early history of 0312901 is unknown. Whatever its early history, the car appeared in South Africa owned by Lex Williamson in 1936.

The Carrozzeria Touring was an Italian coachbuilder. The company was founded in Milan in 1926 by Felice Bianchi Anderloni. Touring made a name for itself with the patented Superleggera (Italian for “super light”) construction. At the end of 1966, Carrozzeria Touring had to close its doors forever.
