The Alfa Romeo 8C 2500 SS Zagato 1949 Panoramica is a unique piece designed by Zagato. The abbreviation 8C stands for eight-cylinder. Usually, the Alfa Romeo 2500 SS was a six-cylinder.
Alfa Romeo was at that time a manufacturer of complete chassis including engine and drive unit. The body shop was left to special companies that had made a name for themselves and could satisfy demanding customer requirements individually. These companies included Zagato, Touring, Castagna, Garavini, Pininfarina and James Young. Zagato is an Italian design and development office based in Rho in the outskirts of Milan. The company is one of the oldest existing body designers in Italy.
