The Maybach Zeppelin DS 8 are luxury class cars with twelve-cylinder V engines, which were built in numerous versions from 1930 to 1940 by Maybach engine construction in Friedrichshafen / Bodensee. The type designation 'Zeppelin' was chosen in order to express externally that the twelve-cylinder Maybach was designed based on the experience with the Maybach Zeppelin airship engines.
With the Maybach luxury brand of the 1930s, buyers had almost every choice to have their vehicle "body" according to their individual requirements and personal style. The body construction company founded by Hermann Spohn is mainly associated with their vehicle bodies for Maybach luxury automobiles. Spohn was founded in 1929. In the summer of 1957 the company was closed.
