The Bugatti Type 38 appeared in March 1926 and replaced the Type 30. Type 38 could reach a top speed of 125 km / h. In 1927 the Type 38 A was added to the range. It had a slightly larger engine and could reach a top speed of 140 km / h. Production of the Type 38-family ended in 1930. Around 335 vehicles of the normal version and around 50 Type 38 A, a total of around 387 units, were built. The chassis numbers were 38-101 to 38-487. Only 29 vehicles have survived. The successor to the Type 38 was the Type 43.
