The Škoda VOS “Government Special Car” was produced between 1949 and 1950 only for the highest state representatives of communist Czechoslovakia. The vehicle belongs to the absolute luxury class. A total of only 107 vehicles were produced, around half of them as VOS-L (L = Czech: lehký, German: light) and the other half as the heavier, armored normal version VOS. The armored vehicles had windows 5.2 cm thick that could only be lowered 2 cm. In order to guarantee the ventilation of the vehicle, an air conditioning system was installed in the trunk. This was so big that another vehicle had to transport the luggage. The weight of the armored sedan was 4,000 kilograms. The Skoda VOS engine had a volume of 5195 cubic centimeters. The 6-cylinder engine had an output of 120 hp, which allowed the car to be accelerated to 128 km / h.
The limousines were officially manufactured in Mladá Boleslav, even if they were only assembled there; The engine and body were delivered. It is actually a Tatra with an engine from the truck manufacturer Praga and a body from the bus manufacturer Karosa Vysoké Myto and a Škoda emblem on the radiator.
