The Tour de France for automobiles was a stage race held in France from 1899 to 1986. It was a road race similar to the Mille Miglia, but unlike the legendary Italian race, it was run in different stages.
1951 Tour de France automobile was won by Pierre "Pagnibon" Boncompagni and navigator Alfred Barraquet driving the 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Barchetta s/n 0078E. The race was 5 239 km and started 30 August in Nice and lasted to 12 September 1951 with arrival back in Nice. Boncompagni was from Nice and the car was borrowed from US Ferrari importer Luigi Chinetti.
